Dreams Beyond Precious Ruins is a living archive that is like no other.

It started from the experience of witnessing gaps within the Indonesian canon, empty spaces that are often in the shape of women's experiences. Filling those gaps is not the aim, but rather, we aim to provide a bit of peace when the rift between histories feels a bit too vast. We are not making things up; we are sitting at the edge of the gap, dangling our feet and chatting about what could fill it. To facilitate this speculative project, archival entries are gleaned from various sources like news platforms and state-owned archives.
But that is not forever. Dreams Beyond Precious Ruins aims to reach a cyclic state, where the entries by the contributors could invite Indonesian women to submit their own personal archive, which is then used to prompt other Indonesian women to create. So on, and so forth, until we have our own library of history.
